![]() MY BROTHER AND ME Born in a country cabin, Wild and free, Two ragged tattered urchins, My brother and me. Our parents were older, Not much pampering had we, But we didn't expect it, My brother and me. We played with each other, Caught crawdads and climbed trees, But we were happy, My brother and me. We wasn't devils, But neither angels were we, Mama used the switch, Enough to make a tree, But it made us better children, My brother and me. When we grew older, Off to school went we, Up through the pasture, Over ditches and through the trees, To learn the three R's, My brother and me. Now life went on, And one day, you see, Our daddy had to leave us, My brother and me. But I got Robert, He got Doxie E., That made us happy, My brother and me. Days kept passing, Children and grandchildren had we, Life held a lot for My brother and me. Then one day in June, Death touched our family, It took our mother from My brother and me. But we still have each other, Thankful for that are we, For we are still close, My brother and me. And when life is over, And we go home to see Daddy and Mama, I hope it will be Always together, My brother and me. -by Nollie Belle (Cobb) Grant |

The song now playing is "The Way We Were" | |
Light the corners of my mind Misty watercolor memories Of the way we were Scattered pictures Of the smiles we left behind Smiles we gave to one another For the way we were Can it be that it was all so simple then Or has time rewritten every line If we had the chance to do it all again Tell me - Would we? Could we? |
May be beautiful and yet What's too painful to remember We simply choose to forget So it's the laughter We will remember Whenever we remember The way we were So it's the laughter We will remember Whenever we remember The way we were |
